The hike starts in the town of Zipacón, where some of the oldest agricultural and ceramic artifacts dating from 1270 C.E. from the Altiplano Cundiboyacense have been found. The hike begins at an old train station, where you can see the ruins of the railroad. Along the trail you’ll find indigenous crops such as peas, beans, chayote, and others. Thirty minutes into the hike, we’ll walk through an iron tunnel built in 1904 to connect Bogotá with the Atlantic Coast. We’ll continue along what was once only a horse path and descend through old roads towards the town of Cachipay. The way is lush and dotted with diverse wildlife. We’ll conclude our hike in the town of Cachipay.
